The Lands of Mount Lebanon

A Sanctuary honoring the harmonies of nature

Located where the Berkshire Mountains meet the Taconic Hills, this magnificent property consists of 344 acres of forest, field and stream. It is part of the ancestral homelands of the Muhheconneok, currently known as the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans. For over 150 years it was settled and developed by the Shakers as a communal site and chair factory. Almost 200 years later, a group of spiritual pioneers came together to establish a new community called The Abode of The Message, investing their individual contributions and work hours to build this center for esoteric study. Today the main campus consists of the retreat center complex, an organic farm, hiking trails and a pond. The geographical boundaries of the Mount Lebanon area protect this vital land corridor for many species of animals and plants.
