A Letter from Devi and Sarmad Tide
June 30, 2022
Dear Friends,
We are writing as people who love the Abode, and as people who love our beautiful world. Our children and grandchildren, and all our human family, are inheriting a planet in stress. You might think that this has nothing to do with the current questions regarding the Abode. To us they are deeply connected.
400 acres of forest offers breath to our world through its trees. The water, air, sacred atmosphere - all of this offers medicine to our world. Being as we have both been asked to step into the conversation about the Abode, we want to know that the Inayatiyya is 'walking its talk' in the way that it treats this place.
We are not finance people. We do not want to make decisions. We do wish that the land be treated with respect and in alignment with our teachings and the needs of the planet at this time.
Our questions:
Will there be a land trust created so that this place continues to offer the medicine of trees and good water and air to our planet?
Are we using our teachings as the base from which decisions are made?
Are we being sensible in the way decisions are made, considering what we have learned in the past, as the future is considered?
We understand that when someone writes a letter like this, they should offer positive suggestions. Our daughter, who works with corporations, environmental organizations and government to find good choices in situations like ours with the Abode, suggested we consider creating a land trust so noone will make the Abode into a housing development. Akbar Scott seems to have good ideas. We do not know the best answer, but we do wish for this sacred land to be well treated.
We hope this letter is useful. Thank you all for considering the wellbeing of our sacred land.
Love,
Devi and Sarmad
